### **Technical Datasheet: Cast Stainless Steel CF3 (UNS J92800)**
#### **1. Product Overview**
UNS J92800 (CF3) is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel casting alloy that provides excellent corrosion resistance and superior welding characteristics. As the cast equivalent of wrought 304L stainless steel, this alloy maintains the same favorable corrosion-resistant properties while offering enhanced castability for complex component manufacturing. The controlled low carbon content ensures maximum resistance to intergranular corrosion, making it particularly suitable for applications requiring extensive welding or operating in corrosive environments.
**Key Advantages:**
- **Superior Corrosion Resistance:** Excellent performance in various corrosive media
- **Enhanced Weldability:** Low carbon content prevents carbide precipitation in heat-affected zones
- **Excellent Cryogenic Properties:** Maintains toughness at low temperatures
- **Good Mechanical Properties:** Balanced combination of strength and ductility
- **Non-Magnetic Characteristics:** Suitable for electrical and electronic applications
---
#### **2. International Standards**
This product conforms to the following international standards:
- **ASTM A743/A743M:** Castings, Iron-Chromium, Iron-Chromium-Nickel, Corrosion-Resistant
- **ASTM A744/A744M:** Castings, Iron-Chromium-Nickel, Corrosion-Resistant for Severe Service
- **UNS J92800:** Unified Numbering System designation
- **ASME SA743/SA744:** ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code equivalents
---
#### **3. Chemical Composition (Heat Analysis, %)**
The chemical composition is carefully balanced to optimize corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
| Element | Composition (%) |
|---------|-----------------|
| Carbon (C) | 0.03 max |
| Manganese (Mn) | 1.50 max |
| Silicon (Si) | 2.00 max |
| Phosphorus (P) | 0.04 max |
| Sulfur (S) | 0.04 max |
| Chromium (Cr) | 17.0-21.0 |
| Nickel (Ni) | 8.0-12.0 |
| Iron (Fe) | Balance |
*Note: The composition ensures optimal austenitic structure stability and corrosion resistance.*
---
#### **4. Mechanical Properties**
