Cryodur® 2510 is a premium oil-hardening, non-shrinking cold work tool steel produced by Schmolz + Bickenbach. ## **Heat Treatment Guidelines**
### **Annealing**
- **Temperature:** 680-720°C
- **Cooling:** Slow furnace cooling at 10-20°C/hour to 600°C, then air cool
- **Resulting Hardness:** ≤ 230 HB
### **Stress Relieving**
- **Temperature:** 600-650°C
- **Cooling:** Air cool
- **Hardness Reduction:** ~30 HB
### **Hardening**
1. **Preheating:** 550-600°C (equalize thoroughly)
2. **Austenitizing:** 780-820°C (typically 800°C)
3. **Soaking Time:** 20-30 minutes per inch of thickness
4. **Quenching:** In circulating oil at 40-60°C
5. **Quench Delay:** Immediately after reaching austenitizing temperature
### **Tempering**
- **Temperature Range:** 150-250°C for working hardness of 58-62 HRC
- **Hold Time:** 1-2 hours per inch of thickness (minimum 1 hour)
- **Cycles:** Double tempering recommended
