## **Important Technical & Procurement Note**
SAF 2507® is a **high-performance alloy requiring expert handling**.
* **Procurement:** Always specify **"Outokumpu SAF 2507® to UNS S32750"** to guarantee receipt of the original, premium grade. Ensure the MTC confirms the high nitrogen content (≥0.24%) and PREN > 40.
* **Heat Treatment:** Material must be supplied in the **solution annealed and quenched condition**. The solution annealing temperature is higher than for standard duplex grades.
* **Fabrication & Welding:** Welding is a critical operation. It **must** use **over-matching super duplex filler metals** (e.g., ER2594) or nickel-based alloys (e.g., Alloy 625) under strict procedure control (low heat input, controlled interpass temperature). Post-weld heat treatment is generally not recommended.
* **Certification:** Require a comprehensive **material test certificate (MTC/CMTR)** including chemical analysis (for PREN), mechanical properties, and often ferrite content (target ~40-50%). For sour service, a separate NACE compliance certificate is typically required.
